Description

This special Toledo is the bigger size of the series and it’s from the first batch made in ’90-’91 since it has the extremely rare 20CT nib that was produced only for the first years before switching to the 18CT.

The art of working Damascus steel dates back to thousands of years ago: objects in steel or iron were worked by engraving a decoration on the surface. This technique came to Spain with the Arabs and has been perfected over the centuries, particularly in the Spanish city of Toledo.

In 1931 Pelikan adopted it for the Toledo model, it was so successful that the design has remained practically unchanged for all these years. Each Toledo fountain pen is a unique piece, the decorative band is in 24K gold plated 925 sterling silver, hand-engraved by a master craftsman according to the famous craftsmanship tradition of Toledo, Spain. Given the complexity of the work, a maximum of 200 copies can be created per month. The cap, the handle, and the bottom are made of high-quality black resin. If you own a Toledo fountain pen, you own a work of art and a small piece of history.
