Description

The Pelikan Concerto fountain pen was originally scheduled for release around the Christmas period of 1995. However, due to complications and negotiations over the use of Beethoven’s “Ode an die Freude” on the pen design, and problems encountered while testing the pen materials, production was delayed.
Customers who had already pre-ordered the pen received a personal apology letter from Pelikan along with a CD of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony – from which the “Ode to Joy” featured on the pen design was taken. For many this increased the excitement of getting their own Concerto and provided another memento and interesting accompaniment piece to their signature pen.
Another interesting fact about this pen is that it was never sold in Switzerland. This was due to unusual regulations regarding the branding of gold-plated sterling silver barrel liners. The Swiss customs authorities have banned the import.

A limited edition of 4000 fountain pens was produced, which finally hit the market in 1996.

The Pelikan concert is a moment of the most glorious highlights in the history of music.
This magnificent creation features a deep blue body surrounded by a gold-plated sterling silver collar.
On the body there is a musical motif, the opening bars of Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy”.
The Pelikan Concerto also features a hand-engraved 18k gold nib and platinum embellishment.
The fountain pen is mounted with a large 18-karat solid gold nib. It is provided
with box and papers
