Description

The heartwood is an intense red colour, variegated by yellow, orange and red stripes which then change to warm shades of orange-red as it matures. The grain is irregular and variable but the texture is fine and uniform, which is why it is used for fine inlay work and precious handicraft articles.
It is a precious wood of great beauty, very expensive and sought after, today almost in danger of extinction outside the national parks and plantations where it is grown. The scarcity and high price of Cocobolo wood mean that it is used above all to make very expensive objects and musical instruments.
Olive wood is extremely difficult to work due to its durability and knots, which is why its processing requires a high level of knowledge of its peculiar characteristics and very long times.
The appearance is characteristic and decorative. The sapwood, of various widths, is light brown in color with a certain tendency to darken over time. The heartwood is yellowish white with characteristic veins, very pronounced and with an irregular, darker pattern.
The legendary olive tree and the oil obtained from its fruits have accompanied the history of humanity.
Appearing probably for the first time in Western Asia, the olive plant quickly spread throughout the Mediterranean area, where its cult was consecrated by all religions.
Synonym of fertility and rebirth, of resistance to the ravages of time and wars, symbol of peace and value, the olive tree represented in mythology, as in religion, a natural element of strength and purification.
